Achalasia Surgeons in the UK

Does anyone know of any good surgeons in the UK?

my surgeon is MR Nick Maynard consultant at Oxford - good bloke, good hospital [john Radcliffe].

Have you had surgery to help with the achalasia? I’m thinking about having it done soon, but I’ve read a lot about people having significant complications afterwards with reflux etc.

I’m not sure whether its that people who have had successful treatment are less likely to post on the internet, or whether the treatment does have significant side effects.

How did it go for you?

Hi Paul,

i had several dilations then a lap myotomy then several more dilations, then an open myotomy, then a couple of dilations. Now looks like i shall have to have something called an esophogoplasty. But not the fault of Mr Maynard i guess i am just one of the unlucky ones regarding Achalasia. Would still recommend MR Maynard at Oxford - he is really experienced in Achalasia.
