I think Caffein Should be avoided, I drink decaf and seem to have no problem.

I will type a MEAL OUTLINE later.
Hope this helps someone. I use this diet after a flare-up is done with me, and cautiously, everyone seems to be different.

Thanks Hughie. Is this a pancreatic low fat diet or a general low fat diet?
I guess it really doesn’t make much difference though.

Vonnie

hey hughie ! thanks for the food list, i know that took some time, but it is much appreciated ! wishing you a realtively pain free day if it can’t be completely no pain !
julie

I got it from a gastro specialist, funny enough he’s one of the specialist out of 4, that told me that he did’nt see anything wrong after my first endo, about 3 yrs ago. And told me I could throw the enzyme pills away, or I could take them which would’nt hurt me anyway. I started to get an impression that he may have thought I was trying to get drugs, I started to get afraid to ask the dr’s for pain meds, hoping one might believe me, and treat me accordingly, which I achieved last month. I started to get choaked up infront of the last dr. when he diognosed me, after a 5 frigin ( excuse my french please) year odessy of pain! What was I talking about? Anyway like you said, does’nt make much of a difference, with me its the fat, and caffein, (chocolate) which I thought I could’nt live without. I thought I could’nt live without alot of things, But guess what! No more JELLY DONUTS! or Cream donuts! etc. etc. some one told me I’ve become dislexic (spelling)? They might be correct, being I lost 50lbs, and am having a hard time gaining it back. Anyway it helps to look over the list several times, till it sinks in the ole noggin! I think the reason I take the time to do this is (besides me into my first year of retirement which I was forced into because of this affliction. And lost $50,000,00 bla, bla, bla.) is because MAN! I’m feelin your pain! and know how important this diet is. I looked for the longest time, to no avail finding one without paying through the nose for fancy recipies. But remember, I only use this diet after the flare-up is finnished with me, then I gradually eat from a clear liquid diet, and so on, though I do start it while I still have the ache in the back, and to be honost, I take a dalaudid a couple times a week for that ache in the back, and makes me talk alot LOL.
AnyWay the next post will be the Meal Outline which is really good. And to think this diet was stuffed away in my sick file for a year, before I became desperate!
Well gonna say goodnight
And hope this helps ya.
I found so far that, basically staying away from as much fat as possible, I think I can control the major flare-ups, I hope! Because this is the first year I’m not in some sort of denial, (my last attack occured after eating a piece of Scrapple, (what was I thinking) LOL
Goodnight.

MEAL OUTLINE
BREAKFAST- Juice, Cereal, Toast, Non-Fat milk, Beverage(decaf-coffee or tea) Sugar-Jelly, Corn oil margarine.
(I can’t seem to find the Corn-Oil margerine anywhere) and I’m not sure about the sugar or jelly thing if your diabetic. I’m not diabetic yet, and eat too much of it. Don’t forget your one egg a day, I like em poached, or soft boiled, when I’m feelin better I go wild and scramble em using Non-Fat sray.

LUNCH - Broth, Low Fat Meat , Boiled Potato, ( I bake em in the microwave) also,Salad(some nice Non-Fat dressings out there.) Vegetables, (any kind) Desert, Jello, etc. Bread, Beverage(Apple Juice, V-8, etc.) Skim or Non-Fat milk, Sugar.

DINNER-Low Fat Meat, Baked Potato, sometimes I get the little white tats in the can, slice em up and fry em using Non-Fat spray (butter flavor) Vegetable, Salad, dessert, (Non-Fat yogurt, Fat Free or Low fat Cottage cheese with canned peaches, mmmm you get the pic. Bread, Non-Fat Milk, Beverage, Sugar.

Again! this works for me, everones different, and you gotta explore, Oh, also I found it interesting that the Dr. told me not to use artificial sweetners.
And Goodnight, sleep tight, and don’t let( you-all know the rest! LOL

Thanks Hughie!
That helps alot!
I went to a dietitian yesterday, and a part of me feels like she thought i was more into losing wait then looking for a pain free diet even AFTER i told her my story. She helped a bit but not too much at all. What pain killers are you on? They have me on motrin right now, and lately my pain has been keeping me up at night, and trying to work and being a full time student i can’t afford to not be sleeping. And then a couple of mornings ago i had the weirdest pain in my back that was about the same type i have in my right up quad. and same spot only in my back, i called my GI and she told me to call my family doc. b/c it didn’t sound like it was anything related to pc and ask him to give me muscle relaxers?? i didn’t think that would help at all so i just gave up bc i’m so sick of arguing with doctors.

hope all is well with you i’m headed to bed now!!

hugs, Emma

Hello Hughie, it’s Mrs. Barb…I wanted to tell you when you type a long post/email highlight the entire email/post that you have typed (about half way) right click and copy it. I do this about every 3 paragraghs. It helps so that way if your timed out you can start a new post/email and just past it into your new one. as long as you don’t copy anything else it will work just fine…Took me about 5 emails to figure this one out-LOL
Hope your doing fine, and feeling a little better  Me still dealing with dizzyness and can’t get over the feeling of passing out! Ok enough on me…I also wanted to say HI to Emma, and hope you are doing good as well…Love to All, Wishing you all a pain free day, Big Hugs…With Love, Mrs. Barb/call me Barb it’s ok…

Hello Emma, I just wanted you to know that most of OUR doctors think it’s in our heads, that is why it is so important for you to find a GI or a Pancreas doctor  I know that the pain in your back is generating from your upper area pain, I think we all here on firefly have this same thing. It’s like having CP in your back… I forgot where you said you lived, but keep searching for a doctor who will listen and understand your CP issues!!! I see 4 different doctors, and they are all related to my illness’s. So really hon, search until you are comfortable with the doctor/doctors ok…Good Luck Hon, sending you Big Hugs, and a pain free day  With Love, Mrs. Barb/Barb

Sometimes high protein can be a culprit. Watch and experiment. My doc had me on low fat, low protein, high carb when I was eating. Although, now that I have a feeding tube, I have a high protein formula that goes directly into the duodenum with some issues but not like when I was eating. One thing we all must remember…STAY HYDRATED. This can be your best friend.

Hugs and prayers

Teresa

Teresa you got that right, so important to stay HYDRATED…This is a problem that I am having been very dizzy and can’t focus and anything! The doctor put me on Meclizine 25mg. 4 times daily (motion sickness med) and that isn’t working either! I drink drink drink, and no good results :frowning: Makes me angry…Anyway just wanted to comment on your post…Hope your having a pain free night ok day-lol it’s almost 1AM why I am still up I don’t know. I also wanted to add ATTN: Julie/Jewels I can’t send you any private messages, it says sender blocked? don’t know. If you see this post please email me again, so I can try and send you info. on SSD/SSI. I was really hoping the second email I sent to you would go through, but nothing. Maybe send your email again I might of copy/paste it wrong??? Ok Teresa thanks for the post…Julie hope to hear from you soon…Big Hugs and Prayers…With Love, Mrs. Barb/Barb
