Pancreatic Cancer Member Introductions

I am a PC whipple survivor of almost 3 years. My mom and her sister both passed from PC and I have an Uncle that has also had the whipple 3 years this month. I am in the study at JHH in Maryland and I live in Florida. I would like to find out ways to help with awareness.

My mother was diagnosed yesterday with metastatic pancreatic cancer and I have been on a research evdeavor ever since and need a little help from those that have been there.

My husband and best friend of 33 years is stage IV pancreatic cancer. I need to talk to someone who is going through it as well as caregivers. I am so scared that I will leave something undone or do something wrong for him. All I want is for him to be pain free.

I was dx with pancreatic cancer in 4/03, had a whipple done followed by chemo and rad. I still have alot of digestive problems which I guess is nothing compared to where I could be…just wondering if anyone can help or has any ideas where I can go to see what I should or could do. I have been told “that is how it is”

Hello… I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer mid-March of this year after 4 months of diagnostic detective work. Had a Whipple done at the end of April performed by Dr. John Cameron at Johns Hopkins. 4 & 1/2 cm. tumor removed with negative margins along with 20 lymph nodes, 2 of which were infected. I’m starting chemo/radiation for 6 weeks beginning June 25th. Hoping to qualify for one of the “vaccine” clinical trials after that. Feeling somewhat “cut-off” from the world with all of this and would love to share this experience with others who are going through it too.

My mother has just been diagnosed

My Mom is in her last days of pancreatic cancer. I am interested in knowing more about what to expect.

My father was just diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver.

My Husband was diagnosed with pancreatice cancer last July

My dad has been diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer and might be undergoing the Whipple Procedure next week

I am a one year survivor of adenocarcinoma. The malignancy was resected (along with my spleen), and I underwent radiation and chemotherapy. I completed treatment in Spring of this year.

Thus far, there has been no indication of recurrence. However, as a result of my prior (controlled) type 2 diabetes, and the partial excision and irradiation of my remaining pancreas has resulted in my current challenge of managing uncontrolled brittle insulin dependent diabetes.

Hi, My name is Marcie, I was diagnosed with non functioning islet cell carcinoma in 2000, I have had Whipple without any radiation or chemo…I did have Internal Radiation with Y-90-DOTATOC, a radiolabeled somatostatin analogue for mets to my liver, spine, abdomen etc. I would love to share my experience with anyone who has a neuroendocrine tumor and would like to know about this therapy.

Hi,Iam Kgirl, and my mom has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer

To everyone diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer…It is important to find out WHICH kind of pancreatic cancer. There are many different kinds and some of them, neuroendocrine tumors, are slow growing and you can actually keep control of them. Once you know what kind you have, it is VERY important to find a specialist. Not you hometown Oncologist that will treat you with the standard chemo and radiation that DOESN’T always work and if it does, it’s for a limited time!!
Search the internet for specialists, make phone calls, write letter, search all the cancer forums you can find, then make educated decisions based on your research. Your future health depends on YOU, not your Oncologists…
I know…I was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer 7 years ago and if I would have listened to the first doctor I went to…I probably wouldn’t be writing this…If by chance you have a Neuroendocrine Tumor, look up Dr. Thomas O’Dorisio at the University of Iowa…he saved my life…maybe he can help you…
