Results from MRI

I just got the result in from my mri and they said I have 2 ganglion cysts and bone edema. I don’t know about if I have RA or not, still waiting for the test results. They also want me to do more tests and also go to an orthopedic I pray that medical insurance will cover the procedures. I am not sure what these things mean. I would like people opinions on it. I am really upset right know and scared. I would appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks

Hi Robyn: I’m sorry about the health scare you recently received. Please know that I will be praying for you. I’m not a doctor but ganglion cysts are non-cancerous. I have them on my fingers and wrists and though they are uncomfortable, they are not a sign of RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis). In fact I had them over 20 years before I was ever diagnosed with RA. I’m not sure what bone edema is but I think it’s similar to a bone fracture and has to do with swelling. I think the advice you received is good – to go to an orthopedic doctor. You didn’t say if you have been diagnosed with RA already. If not, ask the ortho dr if he/she suspects joint disease (OA, RA, etc.) Try not to imagine the worse – I know it’s not easy (I do it myself all the time) but try to think positive. Take it easy and don’t overdo exercise, chores, etc. Pls let us know how you make out. I’ll be praying for you and that your insurance covers your needs. If they don’t, appeal the decision once you get a firm diagnosis. Best wishes. Cynthia
