5 month old with Eczema

I’m an ex-pat currently living in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I’m finding it difficult in this part of the world to find a doctor that can treat my 5 month old daughter with eczema. I know she has eczema but the doctors have not bothered to tell me exactly what type of eczema she has. I know she has a milk allergy so I’ve cut that out of my diet along with soy, nuts, wheat and fish. On top of that I’ve been using Castile soap to wash her hair and clothes and then I air dry her clothes. I’ve bought a humidifier as well.

The doctor prescribed Elecon for her and I use that sparingly on her cheecks but it’s not 100% effective. I hate using steroids. I find that the eczema is spreading more and more as the days go by and as much as I try to alter my diet because I’m nursing her. I take more Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Omega 3,6,9 and apply emu oil and nemu oil topically on her but I’m finding suttle relief.

I don’t know what else to do or if i should just consider going back to LA, California and just have a specialist look at her.

Hi,
This product worked for my little girl when she was 6months old- her moderate eczema is gone now with it and she has small flareups once in a while when something new comes up.
i dont put the hydrocortisone on her cheeks and nappy area any more after using this.
Maybe you can try the ingredients they have by yourself.
heres the site www.katuri.com

Dont listen to people who say you arent moisturizing enough- I was so stressed out.
I also use savon de marseille soap- which is allnatural french soap with 72% olive oil- seems very good fror her. I heard about an aleppo soap which imroves eczema but never tried .
I also moisturize with avocado oil and it does help some.
Hope that helps.

try plain old vaseline–also wet compressed for ten minutes at a time when shes asleep helps. my daughters allergic to many chemicals–a perfume, deodorant, scented candle,or makeup your wearing might be to blame–i went through that revelation with my almost three year old. we use aveno oatmeal body wash for babys-johnson and johnson (anything) broke her out.
another thing is at 7 months my daughter started taking benadryl-the doc might let you do that. the bad thing is that benadryl thins the skin-so it helps with discomfort and luckily her being so young shes not itching the thin skin…good luck hope it gets better–oh rain makes my daughter swell-i dont know how much you get over there-but try on rainy days(if any)to keep you inside. the rain, although humid which is good, stirs up allergins in the air they cant test your baby for til hes much older–they couldnt test my daughter for seasonal allergies til she was 2.

daumber soap helped-its a powder you get at the drug store and mix in water-then you soak it onto a rag and let sit on skin. im sure i spelling it wrong-but if you ask the doc im sure theyll know what it is…

Do you mean Domeboro solution? It’s not a soap, but it comes in
powder form. You mix it with cold water and then apply with a
cloth and let it sit on the skin for 15 or 20 minutes. It’s one
of the few things that works for me when the itching is severe.
It’s over the counter and costs about $14 for 12 applications.
