So sorry to hear that your mom is having such a terrible time. Don’t have much advice to add to what Vonnie offered, just my well wishes that your mom finds relief soon. Definitely find a good specialist, sadly there are many doctors out there who don’t know enough about pancreatitis to be of help to us. Take care, Angie

Frank,

I am so sorry to hear of your mothers problems. Acute Pancreatitis is very serious. However, it sounds like your doctors are on top of things. It takes a very long time to recover from and acute attack. Eleven years ago I was in the hospital for 3 weeks (one week then back in after ten days). After getting out of the hospital it took another good 6 months to get back to normal. However, I had a new normal. It sounds like your mom is back home. Is she eating or is she on TPN or just liquids? Remember that it is essential to be on a low-fat diet, NO alcohol, and it helps to eat many small meals during the day instead on big ones three times a day.
Please tell your mother that I am praying for her. For wisdom for the doctors and strength for both of you to get through the days.
There are many people that have been through a lot. I hope they will sign on and help you.
I are with a pancreatic specialist? If not it might be a good idea to look for one in your area.

Vonnie

Whoops, I meant to say are you with a pancreatic specialist.

Frank,

You are in a tough situation. I don’t know how you can make any changes in her care if she is not willing to go along. God Bless you and your family with wisdom and courage for the days ahead.

Vonnie
