After surgery for achalasia, how often does patient need monitoring via gastroscopy?

Hi

After my surgery my doc said I wouldnt need it, when i read on the internet forums I was advised to take one after every 2 years. So after 2 years i took one and glad i did as there hand been damage caused to the lining and an ulcer developed - I have been on a course of Nexium 40mg to help with this and thankfully it has gone. I currently take checkups every 6 months once I'm happy its all repaired, then i will revert to a 2 year check up.

I would say be proactive its your body.

my doctor adviced on a check-up every 2 years. I am 50 year old, so I just combine it with my colonoscopy. So it's no big deal and gives me peace of mind.
