Dear families of those effected by 5p- Syndrome,

On September 28-29, 2007 we will be hosting the first ever Ohio Gathering of the families effected by 5p- Syndrome in Bellefontaine, OH! Enclosed in this packet you will find information about the schedule, lodging, attractions, dining and directions. Anyone is welcome to come!

Some of the details are still being worked out. So, we will notify you when everything is set in terms of location! Please RSVP to us by phone, email or mail by 9/15/07. Our contact information is on the top of this page. You will need to tell us how many are planning on attending (how many adults, how many children), if you need lodging with local families, any dietary needs that we can assist with and any other needs/concerns that you may have.

For our session on Saturday at the Discovery Center, there will be at least 2 Registered Nurses available if any of our kids have a problem. If you need any other special arrangements, please let us know.

5P- Ohio Gathering

Tentative Schedule of Events
(Locations and Meals subject to change)

Friday, Sept. 28
6:00 PM- Cookout at Nick and Angie’s House. Nick and Angie’s address is 5108 County Road 31 South Bellefontaine, OH 43311. Please see following page for Directions. We will have Renee Cassady, Physical Therapist and Nancy, Occupational Therapist as featured speakers. We will also have clowns for the kids’ entertainment. Please bring chairs (if available) because seating will be limited. Also this event will be BYOB. We will provide pop, juice, milk, and a small amount of alcohol.

Saturday, Sept. 29
9:00 AM- Informational Session about 5P- Annual Conference in Minneapolis, MN; Parent Panels
This event will be located at the Discovery Center. Their address is 1973 St. Rt. 47 West Bellefontaine, OH 43311. The featured speaker will be Cheryl Lemaster, Speech Therapist who will teach beginning sign language and other communication techniques. Breakfast will be provided.

Lunch- Tentatively lunch will be provided by Skyline. The lunch may be at a reduced cost or lunch may be on your own. We’re still working out this detail.

1:00-5:00 PM- Free time, see attached list of tourist activities

5:00-8:00 PM- Dinner is going to be catered by the Whitmore House. Dinner will be located at the farm of, family friends, The Taylor’s. Make sure you bring clothes for a hayride. We will provide directions on Friday.

September 30- If you are staying on Saturday night, we will be going to Bob Evans for breakfast on Sunday. You are welcome to join us if you’ll still be around!


Directions to Nick and Angie’s House

From the South:
Take U.S. 68 North to Co. Rd. 508. You will pass through West Liberty, OH. 508 turns off to the left.
Continue down 508 to Twp. Rd. 31. Take a right onto 31 South. We are the very last house on the left before you come to Co. Rd. 30.

From The North:
Take U.S. 68 South to Co. Rd. 30 (you will go through Bellefontaine). Turn right onto Co. Rd. 30. Follow Co. Rd. 30 until 31 goes to the left. Turn left onto 31. We are the first house on the right. There are two parts of 31. One goes to the right and then a little ways down the road, it goes to the left. Make sure you go to the left.

From The Columbus Area:
Take 33 west to U.S. 68. You will continue on 68 all the way through Bellefontaine (it will be quite a distance, you’ll pass the super walmart). Turn right onto Co. Rd. 30 until 31 goes to the left. Turn left onto 31. We are the first house on the right. There are two parts of 31. One goes to the right and then a little ways down the road, it goes to the left. Make sure you go to the left.

From Indiana:
Take 70 east towards Ohio/Dayton. Take the U.S. 68 north exit towards Urbana, OH. Stay on 68 through Springfield, Urbana and West Liberty. Once past West Liberty, take a left onto Co. Rd. 508. Go down about 5 miles or so until you come to co. Rd. 31. Take a right onto Co. Rd. 31. We are the very last house on the left before you come to Co. Rd. 30.

If you are interested in camping, visit http://www.logancountyohio.com, or contact Candace Watson who is the Director of the Logan County Convention and Tourist Bureau or Ed Wallace (Nick’s Dad) President 1-888-loganco. We don’t camp, so, I don’t know the good places to go!!
As far as dining goes, we are planning to provide most of your meals. However, we do have lots of fast food as well as sit down restaurants. For example, we have McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Arby’s, Burger King, Bob Evans, Tumbleweed, China Buffet, Fazoli’s, Subway, etc.


Donation Information

Although we have many local organizations donating to this event, there may be some extra expense involved. If you would be willing to donate $25.00 to the event it would be greatly appreciated. If extended family members, grandparents, caregivers, etc. plan on attending we would request a $10 donation from them as well. If everything ends up being donated (meals, locations, etc.) we will donate the money to the National 5p- Society. If finances are difficult for your family right now, please do not feel obligated to give. We completely understand your situation!
