My husband has has AIHA (warm antigen and CAD) since early 2005. Thispast fall, he was in hospital for 8 weeks. almost didn’t make it. THe doctors say that they have exhausted treatments for him here in Alaska. He has had Retuxan 4 times, splenectomy, IGIV, plasmaphersis three times, multiple pulse decadron, of course, prednisone, cytoxan, 50+ transfusions, just everything. OUr Alaska doc, who is herself 310 miles away…is now saying we need to see this doc in the lower48, Dr. DeLoughrey. IN Oregon. Has anyone been treated by him for this before here?
My husband believes that it is time to start thinking in terms of only having 1-2 years left. I am having a hard time wth this. Our small town, of course,has no support groups. Can anyone help or recommend a site?
