Hello. I am away until June 24, 2007 and am unable to read your message.

Hamish-
I am an alcoholic that doesn’t drink at all. I have been in excellent health all my life and thought I was invicible. I used to drink till I was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. The best advice I can give you is go into the chronic pancreatitis community and read the horror stories. If that doesn’t make you quit drinking I don’t know what to tell you. I don’t think about having a drink anymore - I think about living pain free every day. Luckily I was able to quit cold turkey but not everyone can. Alcohol is the cause of my pancreatitis. Trust me, you don’t want to join our group! If AA isn’t your thing, make yourself read some of our stories every day. Not everyone that has pancreatitis are drinkers - many don’t know how they got stuck with this horrendous disease. You have a choice. Chronic means there is no cure. Alcoholism is curable. Once again, read the stories in our community. Pray continuously. It’s your life so take control. I will add you to my prayer list. Don’t give up! You are not alone. BIG HUG!
