Am I just a hypochondriac?

I am having what feels like muscle spasms in my legs especially when I lie down and have to stretch … Also in my ankles…Anyone else have this or is my head playing tricks on me??? Also started taking Tramadol when I get hurting really bad but it doesnt cut all the pain…Has anyone else had this effect?? Can you still feel pain even on pain meds???

OMG!!! I went to get a prescription filled at Walmart(serious savings!!!) and I was sweating like nobody’s business and I had such pain just walking…It is definitely getting worse…I dont know how the people that have had DD long time can deal with it…all night long I had spasms in my neck and back along with my feet and legs…

Hi Elaine,

Yes I have muscle spasms often and yes to pain still being felt while taking Tramadol (however, I can only take a 1/2 dose at a time due to low tolerance) so perhaps that’s why it doesn’t relieve the pain fully.

I have heard others say Tromadol was a drug that works for a while but then no longer helps after taking it for a period of time. I’m on the lowest does that can be prescribed and it’s still to strong for me but I think it comes in varying doses (not sure). As a choice of pain killers my doc and I chose this because it is not a narcotic drug (in other words I don’t believe you can become addicted - again I’m not sure of this so please everyone don’t shoot me), and it was one I didn’t have to take daily to build up a balance of it in my system. I can use it only when I absolutely needed it. For me that is extremely important. I do not want to be taking something daily and I certainly do not want to be taking a narcotic at this time. Perhaps someday I will have no choice, but for me this will work for now.

Take care.

yes, I get more muscles spasms in my back and I have never had back problems. I am on serious pain meds and can feel new ones growing. I have a TENS unit for the spasms from the pain clinic. Its wonderful. Talk to your doctor about it. take care, hugs linda

I think we manage because we have had it for so long that we know what to expect or the pattern of an exacerbation. As for your muscle spasms, they can be myoclonous-type seizures. If it continues you may need to see a neurologist re: RLS/PLMD or myoclonus.

Lots of luck,
Benita

I think some of us have built up a tolerance for the pain over time. I know I have. Still, just going to walmart for my rx is a major undertaking.

Do you take a diuretic? You may be deficient in potassium and that will cause spasms too. If you don’t have supplements, eat potatoes and bananas every day, and see if that helps. I get spasms too, and potassium helps me.

I have to agree about the potassium. I too take a diruetic and now need potassium. I take 4 of the huge tablets (cut up of course) per day. Thyroid can also cause some of those symptoms. I take meds for that too. Mine is hypothyroid. I also believe muscle spasms are caused by Dercums, that’s why I got the TENS unit from the pain clinic. i too am getting use to most of the pain. The only time I get relief is after surgery because of the anethesia and calming drugs. You may feel groggy but I assure you you don’t feel the everyday pain!!! LOL
