Any experience with Vitamin A,C,E or Selenium?

Some of you may think this is crazy, but since yesterday, I have been feeling okay…not perfect, but functional. Dr. Freeman has suggested taking A, C, E, and selenium. Has anyone taken these?

I can’t seem to find an antioxident formula with these four ingredients minus a million other ingredients that may upset my stomach. I tried one from a health food store and it made my stomach churn. It had other things like blue algae, manganese, garlic, and cabbage.

Yeah, I should have known better. Dr. F. says Nature Made makes a formula but I am having a hard time finding it. The stores around my area do not carry it. CVS is in the process of trying to get it.

Anyone have experience with this? Does anyone take probiotics? What are your thoughts about them?

Take Care!
Danielle

okay jackie, its me the dumb blonde !!! what is this and what is it for? lots of love and hugs

julie

Danielle,

I believe in the power of prayer and miracle healings. Thank you for praying for Janelle and all of us. I will check with my health food store and see what they say… they are pretty good. Most vitamin compounds do have more than just these vitamins. I know these particular vitamins are excellent for your skin!

Hugs to you,
Jackie

Hi jackie, its julie!

I just found this all so interesting about the vitamins as my drs say no herbels and no vitamins as they are too hard on the pancrease ! funny how they have such different opinions ! love ya jackie girl

julie

I am scared of trying probiotics!! I don’t want anything to mess with my
digestive system. I haven’t been told by any doctor to stay away from them -
so that is just my own personal, non-medical opinion. Mostly because the
yogurts that are supposed to help mess me up big time so I just lump all
those “digestive health” products into the same category. Not trying to tell
anyone else that I have a RATIONAL opinion on these products at all!

I use Vitamin water to get vitamin products because vitamins in pill form
upset my stomach terrible (even now when I have been feeling normal again)
and give me awful pain. The Vitamin water variety called XXX has vitamins A,
C & E in it and it tastes pretty yummy. I don’t know about the Selenium
though. I keep tabs on the stores in my area and pick it (Vitamin Water) up
when it is on sale. I know I have seen it on sale at Target frequently. But,
my grocery store usually has a vitamin water sale once a month.

Glad to hear you are feeling functional!

Not all vitamins are created equal. Dr. Freeman had told me the same
as Danielle, duh, right? But, A, C, E are extra special vitamins
because they are also antioxidants.

I have yet to fully understand all the distinctions. But here is one
web page that did help me begin to understand…

Hello. I am here. I have just been sitting in the wings. Trying to stay positive and believe I will be the 1-3% that will live beyond 5 years. I got the letter from social security today approving disability. That is actually making me feel depressed. My life has changed so drastically so suddenly. I was a full time working mom and now I am not. My sense of self and my future feel so out of reach. I have had my second chemo treatments. I am now on a week off and am resting and trying to get things dong around home before going for the 3rd treatment. My oncologist recommended the following vitamin supplement it has all the vitamins mentioned and a few more. I don’t know if it would sit well in the stomach for you or not, however, thought I would list it for your information. It is called “The Big One” without iron by Metabolic Maintenance. He also recommended vitamin D and fish oil (which is basically a standard for everyone). I am also taking Mona Via, concentrated fruit (4oz equals 13 serviings of fruit). It seems to be helping keep my immunine system intact. My husband and daughter had the stomach flu two weeks ago and I did not get it. I will continue to be in the wings. Thank you so much for your prayers. Hang in there everyone. Love Janelle

Janelle,
Glad to hear from you. I know things must be so different for you. Keep your head up. Life can be so unfair sometimes, but I still think there’s a reason for everything. I am not sure what the reason is for getting sick. None of us deserve to suffer this way. You are an inspiration to me because you are so strong. I will continue to pray for you…hope you get some relief. I have confidence you will get through this. Thanks for the information on vitamins. Take care and keep us all posted. God Bless!
Danielle

Janelle,

I am so glad to hear from you. So you have 2 treatments down, yea! I am sorry things changed for you so fast but I am glad they didn’t put up a fight for social security, one less thing to have to worry about. Maybe you could think about being home as a gift to be a “stay-at-home-mom”. Not that cancer is a gift, that is not what I mean. I just mean that now you can be home with your daughter and give her extra time you couldn’t before. I am a SAHM and love it, but I wasn’t always. It really is special to be at home. Your daughter will benefit by you being there!! And no matter what happens, you will never regret the special times you’ll have. I hope that all makes sense, I tend to ramble…

Well I believe you will be part of that 1-3%. I will continue to pray for you. God will hold you.
(((HUGS)))

Janelle,
Please know that we are praying for you and believing deeply in your
recovery. You have had the breath knocked out of you and of course you need
a little time to assess and just breathe. Please keep your chin up, stay
positive and believe that miracles happen every day. Hey, the doctors gave
me a week to live 14 years ago and I’m still here. So, believe, stay strong
and stand firm.
I send you much love and am giving you a big hug as you read this!
With my love,
Jackie

Julie,
My doctors say no “mega” vitamins. Take one or two but not a lot for the
same reason you stated. They all have different takes on our funny
disease… that’s not so funny most days!
Sending love and hugs to you, Babes!

Like many- handfuls… my doctor thinks two pills is more than enough…,He
said I wouldn’t be able to digest them and would cause pain…

Janelle mentioned Mona Vie- I have tried it- wasn’t impressed…Have you
tried it?
Hugs,
Jackie

Amanda- as per the U of Miami Jackson Memorial- No Probiotics for us! I posted about it with the heading on vitamins.

Julie
Mona Vie is a liquid made from acai berry (from South America) It is expensive to buy from the Mona Vie company. Mona Vie is set up as a multi-level marketing system (a pyramind). You can get another brand or the acai pills at health food stores for half the price. Anyway, many people swear by it and say it helps with arthritis, pain, immune system, back pain, etc. I tried it and was not impressed. It tastes like thick grape juice. I guess whatever works - works. The good news is it can’t hurt you…
Hope this helps
Hugs to you!
Jackie

I think you have to very careful with these “miracle” drinks. I tried one a few years ago and it hurt like crazy. I can’t remember the name of it. It was one of those pyramid things also. It did the same to my daughter. She doesn’t have CP, so that tells you how bad it was. If I can remember the name I’ll let you know.

Keep the Faith,
Vonnie

I agree! Jackie
