Anyone else lived through necrotizing hemorhagic pancreatitis as a child?

Dear Durga,

When I left the hospital last time I had phlebitis (inflammation and infection in both arms) but my doctor didn’t want to put me on oral antibiotics and risk flaring my pancreas again. I tried to fight off the infection at home with rest, etc. but I just could not get over the hump. Last week the I started with the usual symptoms and stayed at home until the 11th. I called my PCP and she could tell by my voice that I was in trouble! My labs were all over the place. My blood pressure 170’s over 110’s and I wasn’t getting enough oxygen. They were freaked but I tried to tell them that it was from the pain. At first they didn’t believe me but once I got my pain under control…all vital signs were normal.

I am being brief b/c I am still in the hospital and getting tired. As soon as I am well i want to post about some results from hospital. I am really scared for the first time in a some time.

Love,
Angela

Angela,

Youhave read my other message about all the help I am getting. Finally, someone flat out said that I have “severe acute chronic necrotizing pancreatitis.” Wow, that’s a mouthful. I was also told that they could only keep me comfortable for the rest of my life. A life sentence I am given and they say it so casually. Yes, I really am scared a bit. Also, seeing how little I really can do and even that is slipping has me very depressed, even to the point of tears. I think I know what you will tell us when you get out and, as you can see, I am with you entirely.

You are deeply in my thoughts.

Angela,

I re-read yourfirst post in this thread. Well, we both have necrotizing pancreatitis. Oh, I also have a bad liver from my meds and triglycerides in the 1000-1200 range that will never go down. I was told by my GI that one day mt liver will just split open from the level of sclerosis that I have (I was never a drinker) and then, at that time, they will just cut away the offending part in a operation that alone can kill me itself. I know my clock is running out on this one and even my mortality. However, I just take it all in stride as I have been knockin’ at death’s door more than I care to think about.

Take care and I hope your news is not as bad as I think it will be.

Angela,

Please don’t bother to reply when you are in pain and weak. I can wait until you get better and come. Please don’t forget that I care about you, you are in my prayers and thoughts.

Rest well and get better soon. I can’t tell you not to get scared. That’s a natural feeling and everybody has to go through it. Try to think that right now first priority is to get better and get home soon where your girls and husband are waiting for you eagerly worried about you. There must be always some solution for every problem, so try to keep positive thoughts and hope it is going to be alright. We are all with you.

Please don’t reply until you feel better I can wait.

Lots of love and many hugs.
Durga.

I was wondering if you would mind if I displayed the pieces of jewelry that Kate and I own that you made for us. I would also like to print off some pictures to show some friends. Thanks and see you soon!

Angela

Angela,

I hope you are out of the hospital by now, since I have been in, and came home Friday evening. My little Shih Ztu is very ill. He has end stage kidney and liver failure, and won’t live long. I am now trying to decide if I should go on and put him to sleep or not. His levels are extremely high, and two vets said he has no chance of surviving. OR DOES HE??? I just am having a hard time with this. I love my little guy very much. He stays right with me when I am sick, and I am staying right with him now. Sorry to take up time and space with something not related to the pancreas, but I am very depressed. Give me a call tomorrow afternoon. 266-7732
