Anyone have trouble with Lyrca?

Hi everyone,
I went to pain clinic last Thursday and was put on Lyrca. Has anyone tried this and had any trouble with it? Please let me know.
Hugs,
Jan

I’ve been on it for over 2 years (initially started on it for the Generalized Myoclonus) and I’m not aware of any negative effects but I’ve been on it and at 300 mg 2x/day, I think it’s time it gets increased b/c it doesn’t seem to be as affective as it use to be. I was on Topamax in very high dosage for 3 years and Lyrica has virtually no side effects compared to Topamax (avoid it please!).

I tried Lyrica but I am still trying to work it made me feel drunk or stoned all the time and I had a hard time staying awake. I am still working and couldn’t drive and take it. I had to give it up for now. I need to work as long as I can.

I felt like outside myself looking in was a very weird feeling. I probably would have adjusted to it if I didn’t have to work and drive.

I tried Lyrica for 3 weeks or so. When I took the pill I was in bed in 20 minutes sleeping. I had a very hard time with dizziness and complete exhaustion. Never again for me! I like my oxycontin. No side effects for me on that.

I was also on Lyrica and it made me too sleepy and it was very expensive. I was switched to Gabapentin which also makes me sleepy but costs less! I just take a little nap a half hour after I take it…if I want to or not! Since I am retired I have that luxury but I worked many years so I know you can’t be sleepy at work. I think the Gabapentin …generic for Neurontin…works about the same. It helps a little and today my rheumatologist said I can increase it to up to 8 a day…I am taking 5 now…so I will continue to be sleepy. It is better than the acute pain whenever I am fully awake! I hope that someday they get something that actually heals the DD not just make you so sleepy you don’t care as much! : )
