Hi JC,

Don’t know whether you are now going to get this response double, as I just got kicked off the internet…

Are you the one asking for a German doctor on Yahoo. Just in case you aren’t I want you to know you are in the best possible hands being in Germany. You should get in touch with Dr. Schulz. He’s one of the very very best specialists on achalasia. Furthermore he’s just a great person, always there for us achalasians.

I haven’t had him perform surgery on me (had two open Heller’s and I am going in for an -ectomy in a couple of weeks/months), but I know from other patients he treated how great a surgeon he is. I have been in touch with him quite a lot myself. He gave me great advise and helped me a lot.

As I am away on summer holidays right now (just bought me some internet time) I cannot look up his e-mail address for you. You can get in touch with him using the contact form on his website: www.achalasie.de.

Good luck,
Isabella

Hi Isabella,
thanks for your help. replied on Yahoo too but it seems Upon looking up addresses and cities it seems Dr. Schulze is about 25 kilometers from where I will be living. God certainly watches over me!!

Only one question left, does he speak English. I assume he does or he would not have patients from Australia and England.

Blessings,
Jeanne

Hi Jeanne,

Yes, I know he speaks English, as he has spoken indeed been in touch with other English speaking patients before.

You certainly are in the very best hands, being in his hands!

Good luck,
Isabella

In the U.S. I saw Dr. Worth Boyce who is reckoned to be the best in the U.S. I wrote him about docs in
Germany and he sent me the nams of Dr Volker Eckardt, Deutsche Klinic fur Diagnostik, Aukmallee 33, Wiesbaden, HE 65191, Germany. I will also check with him. I have his email.

Ok I am bringing this back up because at the moment I need a Gastro. NOT A SURGEON, but a gastro who knows something about Achalasia Preferably in the NRW area.

Hi,

You can go to the same hospital in Germany where Dr. Schulz works, the one in Castrop-Rauxel. You should see Dr. Gespers he’s a very experienced G.I. and has seen hundreds of achalasians.

Hope you are well!

Isabella

Oh and by the way you mention Dr. Volker Eckhardt. He indeed was great concerning achalasia, but he has retired. The hospital though still is very experienced and Dr. Gockel works as a surgeon together with his former hospital. She works in Mainz, a few kms from Wiesbaden and does research to the cause of achalasia. I don’t know the name of the G.I. she works with, but he’s very experienced as well, so Uniklinik Mainz/Wiesbaden is OK as well. It’s just a whole lot further for you to drive.

Isabella

I just remembered the name of the G.I. that Dr. Gockel works with, he’s works for the DKD-Wiesbaden hospital, it’s Dr. Tom Hoischen.
