Depression Member Introductions

Hi, I’m Dick Lahn - started a website on Achalasia maybe 15 years ago. I’ve had Achalasia for at least 15 years. Have had many treatments short of surgery which I want to avoid. Sometimes botox works for 1+ yrs, sometimes not at all, dilitation in ER has worked – went into remission for 5 yrs. Has anyone endured longer – fairly comfortably – without surgery and hope was it done. Thanks, Dick Lahn

i have suffered with what i think is known as general anxiety disorder for over three years now.prior to that i`ve suffered from depression on and off most of my life.i have had panic attacks which can be dibilitating and unfortunately not enough people understand this condition.

Good Morning:

I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis about 6 years ago, although I believe I had it long before that given the symptoms I was having.

I’ve been on a whole slew of anti-inflammatories and DMARD’S, which gradually stopped working one by one.

I am now on Methotrexate which makes me sick and exhausted for days. I’m a tough old nut though.

My question is: The relatively new biologics - since they are crazy expensive, is there any financial assistance for these. I’m afraid that my rheumatologist, whom I see next week, may suggest it. At as much as $25,000 per year, that’s more than my take-home pay for a year!

On another note, is there any way to simply inform co-workers, family, and friends of what rheumatoid arthritis really is? So many people are ignorant of it and see us as a “weak link”.

Son born with Noonans. Want to meet others with children that have noonans and learn more about the condition.

I was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia 25 years ago. It upgraded to Barrets Esophagus 15 years ago. It upgraded to dysplasia 3 years ago. It upgraded to esophageal cancer 32 months ago. I had an esophagectomy 30 months ago. One year ago my thoracic surgeon told me I have a 99 percent probability of a complete cure.

Yesterday, my radiation oncologist told me my Prostate Cancer is completely cured after 9 years of treatment.

I will continue to do followup appointments for both because in my mind neither will ever be completely gone.

I gained some experience with treatment options and recovery from esophageal cancer. Although I have little knowledge about advanced stages, I suffered through the aftereffects of the esophagectomy and may be able to offer some insight for those who are about to enter this part of life.

I am interested in this condition as my husband was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma in October of 2002. He was able to remain NED for 3 years and then it returned in October of 2005 in his left lung. He is currently doing well and in remission. He also has MS and we are thankful that it has not worsened through all the treatments of the cancer. I can certainly share information I have learned throughout this journey. I am also interested in new treatment modalities. I love meeting new people from all walks of life and offer encouragement when needed.

I have anophtalmia (I don´t know if that is the correct word in english, in spanish is anoftalmia, born without an eye).

I´m 27 years old and I still don´t know why I was born with this desease, so I´m hoping that here I can find answers, or at least learn more about it.
