Hi I’m 23 and I recently had to start injecting insulin as I now have diabetes from pancreatitis. I was wondering if there are people who have diabetes like me from pancreatitis and how are you coping with it as I am finding it very difficult
I have recently been diagnosed with diabetes. No surprise to me. My pcp sent me to a dietician/nutritionist and she has been very helpful.
Angie thank you.
Vonnie, If you could give me an address that would be very much appreciated thanks.
I don’t have diabetes either. I know there are some on here that do. If no one answers I’ll give and address to go to that is very helpful.
Thank goodness I don’t have diabetes as a result of my pancreatitis, though have been warned of this risk/possibility. Much luck to you in finding some relief. Angie
I do have diabetes because of the pancreas. You develop it when the pancreas no longer works properly. I am just on the pills for now. I had to have most of my pancreas removed except for the head, and all of my spleen. The pancreas is the organ that controls insulin so if its not working right you develop diabetes not because of something you did. It is fairly easy to control it with diet and exercise. I went to classes that helped me a lot. Find a free diabetic group in your area and go to meetings. You can find them through your local hospital group. Hope this helps.
