Diagnosis but no surgery

I was recently diagnosed (last Friday) with a brain tumor in the fourth ventricle. The tumor is not blocking. My doctor felt that the risks of surgery was too high at this point and has taken a ‘wait and see’ approach to see if it grows or changes. The tumor was first noted on a CT scan in January and it has not grown in that six months.

I will be going in for MRI scan every three months to monitor the tumor. Is this a common approach? The tumor is only 6mm and is not causing symptoms that I’m aware of (though I’ve had pretty severe headaches for the past ten years).

I’m just looking for more information and hopefully to find others out there that are dealing with the same (or similar) issue.

my mom has had 2 brain tumors for the past 7 years, they can’t operate, it’s
just too risky, she is having alot of symptoms now but its 17 years later,
so don’t give up, just make sure you keep your appointments and have faith.
