I had a stent placed as a result of pancreatis & gall bladder issues - after research I find the stent requires replacing after several years. Comments?
WOW . . . mine has been in place for over 3 years now. I was amplulatoried to the hospital from my primary care doc - thought possible heart attack - next thing I knew I woke up with tubes everywhere and was told about the stones in pancreas as well as gall stones. Finally I was told they couldn’t repair the gall bladder until infection was cleared up - I was on strong liquid antibiotics as well as pain medicine which counteracted with thyroid meds and antidepressents. I went into a tailspin and ended up in a mental hospital, taken there by 2 Houston policemen. After 2 weeks I was released with additional meds for panic, anxiety, bi-polar, sleeping, etc. Sleeping up to 20 hours a day and could NOT function, didn’t know who, what, where, when, why, having to crawl upstairs to use the bathroom. I have since weened myself from everyone of the meds other than thyroid. Comments, suggestions? Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I guess I’ve been stressed most of my life due to my upbringing, etc. Then Hurricane IKE as well as living next to the Port of Houston Container Project.
i had one put in last summer i think it was august. and just had to get mine replaced last week… mine was different because it had shifted, but i was also told its not meant to be permanent… ive had chronic pancreatitis for 5 years but its still very new to me…
I had one placed and had it removed after two weeks because I was told that it wasn’t suppposed to be permanent. I have had chronic pancreatitis for about 20 years and have had only two done.
Thanks for responding. Sorry to hear of your 20 years suffering. I never even knew I had pancreatitis. Suspected gall bladder issues, constant heartburn, etc. as well as severe panic attacks, perhaps that was the pancreas & gall bladder both. Then on constant antidepressants, etc., but never anything for heartburn. But I eat healthy, rarely eat out, but wanting to cruise again and all that different food is quite tempting! This may sound silly, but how did you know you had to have the stents removed/replaced? What were your symptoms and are you on medication? Thanks for sharing and Happy Easter!
