Double prayer request

A Pen Pal accepted having all pray for 2 people close to him .

First…His Dad named David, is having seed implant surgery on 8-5 for prostrate cancer.

Second…Family friend , woman named Jackie 73 years old , diagnosed 20 years ago with hep c . Never told anyone . Now has to have tumor removed from liver. Chances are no treatment available for hep c at this stage .

As always thank you so very much for your heart felt prayers …riverlassie

I was so sorry to hear about David and that 73 year old woman, I am going to
be 73 myself in January, am a 1b genotype and no tx thus far and my doctors,
who are supposed to be the best, Dr. Eugene Schiff at UM in Miami, tells me
to wait. And my disease is progressing, very scary, trust this, I will be
praying for all of us.

Sheila

Hi Shiela,

First let me say I’m sorry about your hep c diagnoses. I am on my senced round of tx. May i ask you why your doctor said your not a canidate for treatment? Is it due to age or is there other health issues involved. Age shouldn’t matter if your able to handle the treatment. I know folks well into their 80’s that have had Chemo for cancer. And hep c tx is just another form of Chemo. For a doctor to say " do nothing and just wait " he must have some very good reasons. have you consulted with any other doctor? I went through 3 other doctors for my latest treatment. You Can get another opinion, and should , just for you8r own peace of mind. Please let me know how it goes. E-mail me at jrflo@comcast.net

I too am available for talks, I start my 2nd round of treatment for Hep C at the end of the week. I’d be happy to be in support of you but as Riverlassie said there must be further details, you could ask him. sending you supportive hugs
River

I tried to write to you privately, but it got kicked back to me:( I see one
of the most world renowned doctors for HCV, check him out if you haven’t
heard of him, it’s Dr. Eugene Schiff. You can google him and he is known as the
"king of interferon". I am certain I could find many doctors to put me on
tx, but not of this man’s caliber. He is considering my age, my genotype and
my extrahepatic manifestations, including cryobulinemia. I have already
done one round of plasmapheresis, which is not a fun experience, but it did end
up helping some and I may have to repeat it:( Yuck!! They put a catheter
into your jugular vein in your neck which remains in place there for all the
days you are hospitalized, then they do the procedure which is most
unpleasant, removing all your blood plasma and replacing it with human albumin. My
husband was allowed to hold my hand, it takes hours and was repeated 3-4 times
over the next several days. I would seriously like to avoid repeating that
procedure, but I did get some relief. I would give tx a try with an
inhibitor, but none of those in trials are on the market yet. My odds would go up
much higher and it’s possible I wouldn’t have to tx for as long. I am hoping,
but I honestly don’t think there will be a cure that works for everyone in my
lifetime. This disease has definitely shortened my life span and for now I
am totally powerless. Thanks so much for your input and if you would like to
share more with me, maybe you can write to me privately. sakshe@aol.com
(mailto:sakshe@aol.com) .

Best to you,
Sheila
