Hypopituitary

Does anyone know if you can get better from being hypopitutary or will you always be hypopitiutary. What I am asking is do you think there is ever chance the pitiutary can start working again? Thanks!!!

Michelle

I’m not sure what is meant by hypopituitary but I have secondary adrenal insufficiency due to an infiltration disease from nickel. Nickel has infiltrated my hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal-axis and my liver. From what I understand I may get better. Do you know what caused your condition? I’ve read that sometimes it is reversable depending on the reason.

Michelle,

I am hypopit as well.

It depends on what caused the condition.

Some have pit tumors that can be removed and then pit function can return to normal. Others might have an active infection/virus/fungus which can be treated. It just depends.

Has your endo determined what caused your loss of pit function?

I have pan-hypopit – meaning my pituitary was damaged from (they think) low blood flow. I’ve been told that I’ll have to take HGH for the rest of my life, but from the initial diagnosis to now (about 5 years), they’ve been able to cut my dose in 1/2. Hope this helps.
