Lets get started

Hi, My husband has type 2 Diabetes. He is not so good at checking his blood suger and at his last doc. vist he was told that if he did not bring his blood suger down he is going to have to start taking insulin. I know all the things to do to help him, but to get him to do them is anotherthing. I don’t want to have to go on insulin. Don’t know what to doto get him on the right track.

I was diagnosed with diabetes Type 2 two years ago. My first reading was 272 , which isn,t the highest I,ve read about. I use metformin and actos to help control it In my view the most important action is eating correctly. A whole bagel instead of 1/2 a bagel can make my sugar soar… Now I use whole grains only and try to stay away from the white carbs.I’ve kept it pretty well controlled since diabetis can cause heart problems, slow healing, fatigue, (just what I need with CFS) etc. I,m surprised that so many young people are affected by diabetes. Its has to be our american diet of “goodies” I see the schools are removing alot of these foods from the cafeteria.

Asheley, how much had you had to eat? How many carbs? Do you know how to carb count? After you figure out how many carbs you have had for a meal, test your blood one hour later, and then two hours later. You definetely need to see a dr. Let me know how it goes, and remember, I’m here if you have questions. I’ve been dealing with it since being pregnant with my daughter 11 years ago.

Hi everyone,  I'm T2 since 2005 and still learning.  Both my parents had it and I guess

I never took that seriously till well I was also diagnosed with it.  In my case both myself and my twin sister came down with it about the same time.  So it's genetic in

our case.  I have to say I've never been really active and trying to change my life style

now is a difficult one but I'm gonna do it.  I've joined a gym and I love to walk by the

lake close to my house I just want to motivate myself to do this on a regular basis.

Rachal, if you are having a problem remembering to take a medication, AND you own a Computer, or a handheld device such as a Palm or Pocket PC, then I highly recommend a Program called OnTimeRX that will take the worry out of trying to remember your medications:
