Sorry for taking so long to reply, I couldn’t find my way back to this board!!
I’ve been on the Cymbalta for 8 days now. I started at 30 mg. the usual starting dose, and I was very nervous/jittery. So my doc told me to go down to 15 mg. I still feel nervous. I talked to my MD and my homeopath who both think my nervousness/jitteriness isn’t from the Cymbalta, or wasn’t the Lex either, but from withdrawal from stopping the Paxil abruptly. I can’t argue that it could be. I took 5 mg. of Paxil today to see if it would make any difference, but I didn’t feel a thing. They also thought I should up my Cymbalta again to see if it helped, so I did last night to 20 mg. and I was more nervous today. This whole thing totally stinks.
Has anyone ever been here before?
Kimberly, when you switched from Zoloft to Lexapro, did you have any type of withdrawal from the Zoloft, of when you switched back?
I need some input here. Once I weaned off my Paxil slowly, over 5 months, and was fine, but a month after I was totally off it all my anxiety problems came back. I tried Zoloft for a month, and was up to 100 mg. and it did nothing for me. How much do you take of it?
I want the Cymbalta to work, and I don’t want to wrongly think it’s not working if the nervousness ins’t from it. Emotionally/mentally, it’s working just fine. I know it’s only been a week.
Thanks so much for you help and input.
Dawn
I have a couple of friend that take Celexa and really like it. I’m back on Paxil. I took the Cymbalta for 3 weeks, and was constantly nervous and jittery. I went up to the recommened dose of 60 mg. for a few days, hoping that would make it better, but it made it worse, so I went back to my doc, who told me to go back on my Paxil, start at my usual dose of 20 mg. then go up by 10 mg. per week until I reaches 40 mg. She said if this didn’t work I’d have to see a psychiatrist, since they are the experts in these meds. I’ve been at 30 mg. for 4 days, and I am doing better. I’ve made posts on other boards and asked people if upping the dose worked if their med stopped working and for most of them it did. God bless, Dawn <>
I joined careplace, but haven’t really figured out how it works. I am very
much interested in what other medication you added to Lexapro that is helping
your lose weight. I have refused all antidepressants except for Elavil and
I think I am addicted to it. Been on it for over 30 years. Doctors say I am
not addicted, but just dependent. I fall apart and can’t sleep when I try
to get off of it. The doctors have no idea what they are prescribing. They
have never taken it and only go on what the drug companies salesmen tell them.
I gained 30 pounds on Elavil and another 10 before I stopped Celexa. My
main problem is physical symptoms. I have so many that I am depressed. They
seem to move around. Almost 20 different symptoms. Doctor’s can’t seem to
find the answer, so they say I must be depressed. Of course with 20 different
symptoms, who wouldn’t be depressed. I really don’t know which came first,
but it is a horrible way to live.
If you don’t mind, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Hi,
I too would very much like to know what drug you added to Lexapro that has helped you so much. I feel like I’m on a yo-yo.
I got back on Paxil, and went up from 20 mg. to 30 mg. After a week it seemed to be helping a lot. Then I got sick, and went on Zithromax (antibiotic) OMG!!! I sent me into orbit. I got this weird squeezing dizzy feeling in my head, shaky, and anxious, and a medicine taste in my mouth. I’ve been off of it for 5 days now and it’s still in my system affecting my like this. This is just plain torment. Have you ever had anything like this happen?
Dawn
I have tried most anti-depressants out there. I
currently take Lexapro (10mg), Cymbalta (30) and my
psych. doc. added Prozac (20) back in. I went down on
the Lexapro recently from 30 to 10 and that is when I
started losing the weight. But I also attend 12 step
meetings for my eating habits and to address eating or
not eating enough because of emotional issues. Plus I
am on Trazodone/Ambien for sleep, every night.
I have Multiple Chemical Sensitivity and standard
practice with new carpets is to preserve the with the
chemical formaldehyde. I moved into this new
apartment a few months ago with a new carpet and had
those exact symptoms: weird, squeezing dizzy feeling
in my head, anxious etc… I am so sad you are being
tormented. I actually had similar symptoms when I
went off Lexapro including extreme lightheadedness.
Good luck with that. I feel like I have been through
the medication ringer.

Hi Minnie, Reddogranch and Everyone:
Sorry my other replys came with the post I was answering. I think I may have meant to reply personally and it ended up on the forum. I am still in the apartment with the carpet. I seem to be better but I still decided to ask my land lady for permission to remove it. I think that is the safest bet for my health. I don’t know for sure that I am reacting to formaldehyde because there are a whole host of chemicals and carcinogens in carpet preservatives. I pulled up a corner and found a beautiful wood floor underneath. Don’t know if I will need to have it worked on or not. Taking things one step at a time. I
am doing well on my med mix. I guess I do tolerate the ones I’m on well. Serzone made my heart race and pound. Effexsor made me feel like I had bugs in my veins crawling up my back. Paxil just did nothing. Wellbutrin made it so I could not sleep. Zoloft didn’t cut it. I was on Prozac for 4-5 years I think until it stopped working. I went off but after about a 2 year break I am back on it. I feel pretty stable now. I am only gonna take one class at school next semester and a dance class, hopefully. I have to adapt it to fit my needs but I love to move.
Feel Better All,
femmgrrl
Thanks for the note.
I had a strange thing happen. I have been praying to God for his help. I
have been to doctors and they can’t seem to find out what my problems are.
Well, to make a long story short, I was mostly praying for myself. I was
feeling so bad, I tried, but I didn’t pray much for others. Well, the other day,
I didn’t ask God for anything, I just prayed for other people and a woman who
had very similar problems to mine.
Yesterday morning I woke up at 5:00 bright eyed which is very unusual
because I couldn’t go to sleep until 2:00. It was like a message had been planted
in my mind. It said, “gluten allergy.” That was the message. I had never
even heard of it, much less think I had it. I got right up and put it on the
Internet. I do have a lot of the symptoms described. I started the diet
yesterday eliminating all grains from my diet. No sugar. I haven’t had a
headache for two days. This is after having it steadily for over a month. I
think it is a miracle. I will keep you posted. It is going to be hard to keep
on the diet as we are going to be traveling and staying with relatives for a
couple of weeks. I may have to go buy my own food.
I wanted to let you know how I am doing. Still have burning feet and itchy
spots, but thank God the headaches are gone and maybe the rest will go to
eventually. The headache is the hardest to handle.
God Bless you,
Minnie
