Memories

Hi All…

My heart goes out to all of you who care for someone with WKS.
My wife is 46, and she developed it over a year ago…
She was in the hospital for 6 days, and that was all.
We’ve been married for 23 years.
She remembers new things for about 6 minutes, tops.
Then she forgets.
And asks again.
And again.
(Ad Nauseum.)
I’m her sole Caretaker.
She’ll never make a new memory,
but I remember everything.
No medicines.
(No drinking since she got sick.)
Just me.
(And no intimacy…)
She says ‘later,’ then forgets…
I remember everything…

Understand what you are going thru… My son has been in a nursing home 5
years with WKS.
He used to ask the same questions over and over, he no longer does that.
In fact he talks very little now. His Dr. ( neurologist} says this is
normal, as the brain is slowing dow in connecting with other parts of the brain.
He still feeds himself properly, takes his own showers and controls his tv.
He is in a wheel chair because of loss of balance. You have my thoughts and
prayers. Keep your memories and talk to your wife as if she still has
hers… We just don’t know exactly what they do understand. God Bless you and
yours.
