Hi,
I’ve been on Paxil for 7 yr. It has worked great up until 3 mo. ago. So I tried Lexapro, and it did not agree with me. Then I tried Cymbalta, it was okay, but I was nervous all the time. So my doc put me back on Paxil, and doubled the dose. It’s just not working.
My homeopath said when you change meds you should wean slowly off one while slowly getting on the other. My doc had me go cold turkey off the Paxil and onto the new med. I have heard that might be part of why I was so nervous, withdrawal from the Paxil.
Sure could use some input here from anyone that’s been there.
I called the pharmacy and they said it was okay to wean off while getting on the new one.

i found paxil a nightmare and getting off it worse. must go slowly. never
met anyone who’s had a good experience with it.
zoloft and wellbutrin have worked for me but there is no magic pill. each
works different with each person’s neurotransmitters. have heard good things
about Effexor but never tried it.
good luck.

Hi,
I went off Paxil about a year and a half ago, with a 5 mo. wean. I was fine
for a month after I was totally off of it, then the anxiety all came back.
So I tried Zoloft, and got up to 100 mg and it did nothing, good or bad. So
I went back on Paxil.
I’ve gotten off the Paxil a few times, but always wind up back on it. This
time it just stopped working. I tried Cymbalta, and felt nervous all the
time, tried Lexapro, was nervous, flashes, and terrible gut upset. Effexor
is a lot like Cymbalta, I’ve heard it too is very hard to get off of.
I can’t say I ever had any ‘weird’ effects from weaning off paxil, just that
the anxiety came back each time after I was totally off it for a month.
I always thought the Paxil WAS a magic pill. It worked perfect for me for
over 6 yr.
