My son just turned a year old on July 6th, he is 19.5 lbs and only 25.5 inches long, he is being sent to an Enrcology specialist because mainly his height. He’s off the chart but the ped said with HD there are so many other factors that we may not notice til he is older? I don’t understand, what other factors?? I am prob not even 5’ my husband maybe 5’7", I hope he is just going to be a short little guy. for his height his weight is fine. He looks very healthy and weighed 8lbs 9oz at birth, he is very chubby. The Endrcology dr will be doing a ton of labs, and a skin test, I’m so not looking forward to this apt. They have also put him on the next step formula rather then milk, he may possibly be lactose intolerant. Any advice? The doctors aren’t giving much info, one said maybe he is lacking a certain hormone and will just need some injections. Eghh he is just a baby, I wish they would wait.
We know some people with a one year old “normal” baby that is only 18 pounds. She is just on the smaller side. Both parents are also small framed. I know she can’t have any dairy because she breaks out in hives but they think she will outgrow it. I’d be leary of hormones too. I wonder what harm the wait and see approach would do?

ohhhh… My son seems a little short too (however 1st born also HD and is not short) He has been growing, but I noticed the % where declining, he is just shy of 4 months and we will have another well baby check up soon. I was wanting to see how his height (also head size) was and would be talking to the dr about this if the % drop again. I believe at 1 month it was 30-some% then a @ 2month it was 23%, so we will see what 4 months hold. His head is even lower in %.
his weight has been 49-58% right on target.
I am 5’3 and father is 5’7, sp maybe he’ll just be a short kid (diff father from 1st born)
My 7 month old DD recently measured 16 lbs 9 ozs and is nearly 28 in tall. Basically, 50% for weight, 75% for head circumference, and 95% for height.
She weighed 7 lbs 11 oz at birth and measured 22" at her two week check-up.
Her lowest weight % was at 45% the week following surgery but she regained her weight quickly, like within 3 weeks. Katie has always been upper 90th % for height. I’m 5’8" and DH is 5’11".
Katie was diagnosed with LSHD at 9 weeks. Katie is an anomally and has never consumed more than 27 oz of formula per day. Go figure.
Hi Izzy’s Mom. My son Jacob was also diagnosed with HD at 5 days old.
He is 3 months today and weighs in at 14 1/2 lbs. He also has a stoma.
Jacob’s surgeon is talking about doing his next surgery when he is
around 1 yr old.
