Puestow Procedure Questions

I would like to start off by saying, my heart goes out to each of you and I hope the medical community will finally come up with a better way to treat CP.  My husband was diagnosed with a pancreas divisum about 4 years ago and since then he has been seen by doctors at Johns Hopkins and Duke University Medical.  We were lucky and found out 4 months after he was diagnosed, that it was caused by a divisum.  After several ERCP stenting, they have advised him to have the Puestow procedure done to "cure" the dialated pancreas duct as well as his divisum.  My question to everyone is, have you had this procedure done and if you have, please let me know how your recovery went and do you still experience chronic pain?

Thank you for you assistance and please feel free to ask me any questions regarding my husbands experience.  I feel he has been pretty fortunate overall since he is still working and we have been able to treat his pain with Duragesic patches,  enzymes and a low fat diet.  I wish all of you the best.

Hi-

I read your note about your husband’s Peustow procedure. I also had a peustow procedure done about 10 years ago. I am doing much better. I have only had 4 attacks since then (compared to every 3-4 weeks). I still have discomfort but not severe pain. I can live with the discomfort and bless every day I stay out of the hospital!! Best of luck to you and your husband.
