Just got urine results on my son. He went w/o water for about 5 hrs. and his urine osmolality was 649. His urine specific gravity was 1.017. Do these finding r/o DI? The ped. thinks he is drinking from habit, but will show the results to an endo. I don’t understand how habit can wake him at night to drink and pee? If this is habit (he’s been wetting the bed/drinking a lot since age 8 and he’s almost 11), I want him to discipline himself not to drink before bed, etc. to prevent accidents. But if he needs the water, I don’t want to deprive him. Does anyone have any experience with this? We deprived him of water at home for the urine test.
