School Assessment Profile

Hello everyone,

I just need to see if I should give up and try a different direction.

My son fits almost all of the symptoms of Dyslexia to a “T”.

The school tested him, but I don’t agree with the person who interepted them.

Under Reading and Spelling he is below avg.
Phonological awarenss and Rapid Naming he almost not made it to the avg catagory.
The rest just have an “x” under Avg.

Should I give up and assume they are right? Or should I put harder for a better explanation. He is having a hard time with reading and researching stuff and understanding what he read. I don’t know how to help him.

Thanks,
Emily

By the way the Middle School only has one reading level and that is Advance Reading for all the students. There are no accomidations for kids with learning challenges.

I would get him tested by an outside source like a pediatric Behavioral Psychologist . Mine did not ever get labeled Dyslexic when they were attending public school and were tested but I like you have researcheed and feel atleast two of my kids are Dyslexic to a T as well! Don’t give up! A Developmental Pediatrician could help as well! HTH!Cshells!

Thank you for the information.

I needed that encouragement. I will call to day and work on getting a appointment with a pediatric Behavioral Psychologist. I did know what type of doctor could help me. At least know I know what to look for.

Like a dog with a bone, I’ll just have to hold on to the issue till I get it solved one way or anther.

He is finishing 6th grade and I feel I have lost too much time. But hopefully I can find a solution before he hits high school.

Again, thank you.

Good luck with your search and let me know how it is going! You know your child the best so do not give up until you get what you need and what he needs! :oD Cshells
