I would like to know what kinds of social skills support schools are providing out there. My local Aspergers suport group is starting a think tank to address the lack of social skills education in our schools. Can anybody give us some good ideas?
My son’s elementary school has started working on social stories with him to improve social skills. Examples include how to choose a good playmate at recess and how to play a game. The speech therapist has been reviewing the social stories with him and coaching him. The plan is then to reinforce these skills by setting up a group of peers with whom he could practice.
