Hi,
I have had 2 discectomy operations and 2 spinal epidurals and am currently on a very high level of medication. I am still experiencing severe sciatic and lower back pain and am registered disabled. I cannot walk without crutches and then only short distances.
I am virtually housebound, and recent blood tests have shown that my kidneys are not functioning properly due to the amount of medication I have to take.
My pain specialist has advised me to have a spinal cord stimuator fitted. I have heard and seen some reviews which have shown that there can be problems associated with this implant and am very reluctant to have it fitted.
I feel like I am stuck between a rock and a hard place!! I am scared that this operation will make me worse, especially as I was admitted to hospital following both discectomy operations and after a spinal epidural with severe inflamation Can anyone out there who has had this operation give me any information or is there anyone who has found alternative successful treatment?
