I am interested in starting a PTSD support group in my area. I am an RN but not a therapist. Does anyone know if there are liability issues I need to address before proceeding?

RN’s are like doctors - everyone thinks that they know everything about every disease. My point is that you’ll be asked for medical advice because of your profession. You need to be very careful in how you answer them. If something should go wrong or if they should misinterpret your advice, you could be held liable. I’m not trying to scare you off, but rather warning you of possible consequences. If you are a practicing RN, you probably already have liability insurance. Talk to a representative and see what he/she recommends. Good luck.
