The DI Foundation

The Diabetes Insipidus Foundation based in the U.S. has a website at http://www.diabetesinsipidus.org/ ( can I refer to another website here???)
It looks like they’ve hosted an annual DI conference for the last four years and I’m just curious if anyone has gone to it. The last one was in Bloomington, MN in 2007. There is no posting yet for 2008. Also, if you become a member, you receive a quarterly newsletter called “Endless Water”. Are any of you members and is it worth joining???

Well, I tried to join, and give a big ole donation, at the end of 2007. The
website didn’t work, and I sent a note asking what I could do, and still
haven’t heard back…

So I have no news…

In regards to the Diabetes Insipidus Foundation which I am a new board member to, we have had some vacancies recently that have caused a delay in printing the newsletter We rely on volunteers such as myself and the others on the Board of Directors to run the Foundation and have had some challenges recently. There is a survey up on the website that would help us in finding out which direction our members would like us to focus on and what best helps you in regards to life with DI.

Survey here: http://www.diabetesinsipidus.org/dif_survey.htm

I have NDI and got involved two years ago with DIF. It put me in touch with others for the first time in my life that have either DI or NDI and has opened doors for me that were not even visible just a few years ago.

Help out anyway you can,

Last year I paid the fee and it was accepted and still I have no newsletters and nothing else!
I found the web site to be informative and considered going to the metting in MN. It was the same day as my children started school…so I didn’t go. I’d still consider going to the next conference but they still haven’t posted any news on this year. They need to get it together and maybe I could plan ahead.
My advice is to just read the site and give them zero dollars until they shape up! Kim

I also did the survey last year towards the end of the year. I think it might help if they posted the news that they were in some transition and then we could be more patient. Kim

DIF website is very good website. Endless Water is very good piece of work produced by DIF. I was a member of DIF since its first year and reading Endless Water from its 1st issue. DIF was founded by the parent of a boy who is suffering from DI with their group of friends who have or dealing directly with DI. DIF is able to educate people that there is another type of Diabetes. Compare to those years, now I can get supports and people know what I am talking about when I say I have DI. I would like to say that DIF is successful even though it is not easy to run, most of the care takers are volunteers.
To Dave Raftis - keep going.

Well, kudos to those of you that have already shown your support of the DIF. We probably all should get behind it and show our support and hopefully they will get the kinks ironed out. How else are we going to educate ourselves and others? Look at all the hundreds of Foundations for other causes that are out there. I’m sure they all had very humble beginnings.
