ps. maybe you could even brainstorm as how to get through to N’s. I know what you say, it is not possible… but what if you did not accept no for an answer and tried to come up with ways knowing you are on that side of things…

They’re right. You have insightful information and are doing a great service in sharing such here BUT for those who haven’t found “here”, how are you reaching them?
I just now found “here” and I have to tell you that I do watch Oprah and others and I would have loved to have heard about NPD a long time ago. I have lived with an N for 20 years now. I have ran the race, chased my tail to no avail. I have had plastic surgery to try and please this man. The sugery went wrong and required 3 more surgeries. I have to live with this. He does NOT care and he will never care (as I’ve come to learn as I’ve read and read for hours today). It doesn’t change the facts and it certainly doesn’t make it hurt any less but it does give me the strength to quit helping him squash me emotionally.
I wish I had known. I sat here this morning and after going from site to site, I quite by accident, stumbled onto NPD info. I sat dumbfounded. I could not believe “it” had a name. I could not believe that finally… something to call it… some vendication that I WAS NOT CRAZY!! Then, as much as it was a relief, it hurts to know that I’ve gone through everything I have and I didn’t have to. I could have learned from others before me and not had to endure this craziness for the last two decades, if only I had heard of it… if only I’d known.
Like anything else, you have to jump out there. You have to make your platform known. Call, write, email, send your book. Oprah loves books!! You wanted to know what proactive stance you should take… a journey of a 1000 miles starts with a single step, so get up and take that first step Sam, send her a book!

LOL. Of course I’ve not been on her show nor do I know her personally. However, you said you haven’t even gotten an “autogen” reply from her. I wrote to the producers twice on this issue and at least I did get an autogen…we’ll see what else happens. I also sent a seperate one as a query to Oprah herself and again, I got an autogen…and again, we’ll see. She’s really pushing mental health issues in the month of October…so, maybe a good time for this. And, as for why I thought you perhaps hadn’t done this step (sending a book) is because you never stated that you had. You went through, explaining all the steps you’d taken and the lack of results, i.e. no autogen response, etc. but you never said you’d sent a book. You’ve clarified that for me. Thank you. I shall let you know when I hear anything from them, regarding my attempts at getting you on her show. Have a fabulous day Sam!!

Again, you stand a far better chance at convincing your local TV network,
your local paper than Oprah. Her program is too commercially compromise,
IMHO. She caters to bestselling authors, not to humble ones like me …:o))

you are right about trying to get to Oprah.Her site is difficult to navigate and is being updated with a lot of problems and complaints.Some groups that were in place for abuse have disappeared. Sinse there is no subject title for ideas for a show, it must be like hitting the lottery to have one read at all. I read a response from someone on a message board, complaining someone on Oprah's staff removed her message becasue she posted a web site for this woman to go to for more help. You must not be permitted to mention other sites to get help. On the message boards, for Abuse physical, verbal or emotional, you can start a new topic with Narcissistic personality disorder, so that is where we will have to try get this topic started and see what happens from there and if we can get more attention from other women. I tried two times to get this new topic onto the board, both times it went up into cyber space, not to the web site. I have had that happen here also, it is one of the things in life I find frustrating. Taking the time to put your thoughs together, sounds pretty good, then it is gone, and you are trying to remember what all you said to start over again. I am suggesting that everyone on here post their stories at the abuse message board, with Narcissistic personality disorder spelled out for the topic, some may not know what Npd stands for. October 10th go to the abuse message baords and post your stories. I set up a new screen name and rejoined Oprah, so I could use mamolie but had to add mamolie44 to be able to use this name. I hope many on this site will give this a try and see what happens. If nothing else, we may enlighten and help more people who do not know the name of their pain, yet. A few minutes of your time could help someone, please give it a try, Octobe 10th. Your name Sam will be mentioned in anything I post. I for one will not give up trying to find ways to call attention to this disorder. If I could have had this information, many, many years ago, my children would not be so damaged, and I would have more than one brain cell to try to work with. Hugs mamolie
