Weight loss after surgery

I am wondering how much weight my father-in-law will lose after surgery? He is 6’3 and has already went from 195 to 145! He was diagnosed 6 weeks ago and they are doing surgery on June 20th. It seems so long from diagnosis to surgery!? His weight just keeps falling daily. Is this normal? Should they have put a feeding tube in before now?

He will lose a lot more weight after the surgery and they will place a
feeding tube in his side for several weeks or a few months. The good news is that
my husband lost 100 lbs and has gained back 50 lbs back and now has a cute
tummy. Don’t worry the feeding tube they put in is going to keep him going.
Besides my husband had a lot of complications and yours may not. It is
probably not a good idea to waste the money putting the nasal tube in when they
will just take it out and replace it with a nasal suction tube and put the
feeding tube directly into his stomach threw his side.

Thank you for your response…I am glad your husband is doing better! I am
glad the feeding tube will keep him going!

Debbie,

Anytime you get scared just write me. No one ever thinks to wonder how we
are doing with this situation. I’m not online everyday but I do check my mail
often. Good luck and give yourself one treat today for your efforts in this
battle, even if it is just a 10 minute bubble bath.
