What does anyone know about Lexapro

Hi I just started a new med Lexapro because I had a breakdown, my previous med of 10 years stopped working about 3 yearsa ago, and I of course struggled and finally crashed/burned and now am on this new stuff.

Does anyone have any experience with this med? So far it is working rather well for me. My former miracle drug was Wellbutrin, but it did nothing for the anxiety. Please let me know if you have any knowledge of this new drug.

Clover, I had no luck with Lexapro. It made me zombish. My sister loves it.
Try it you might like it. I know a lot of people that are taking it with great results.
Good luck

My wonder drug was also Welbrutin but being bipolar it sent me over the edge… Made me really manic but the ride was fun until I hit bottom.
Now they wouldn’t give it to me if it was the last drug on earth.
And have taken Lexapro and it worked well for about 2 yrs and then it just stopped… But then everyone is different …And if I remember I might have had headaches with it also…
Maybe I should start writing down what different drugs I have taken and for how long and how I did on them…I know that should be the doc’s job but I think my file has gotten too thick…

Good luck and hope it works for you!

HI
REGARDING YOUR QUESTION ON LEXAPRO…IVE BEEN ON IT FOR 7 MTHS NOW AND IM DOING TERRIFIC…ALONG WITH KLONIPIN .5 MG / ONE AT NIGHT AND ONE IN THE MORNING…
I HAD NO REALLY BAD SIDE EFFECTS, JUST TOOK ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS TO REALLY KICK IN…BUT HAS HELPED ME OUT OF A VERY DARK HOLE…IVE BEEN ON EFFEXOR, XANAX, ( WELLBUTRIN, PAXIL, ZOLOFT, PROZAC MADE ME VERY ILL FOR I DID NOT NEED THAT TYPE OF PILL). ITS REALLY HOW ARE BODY REACTS TO THE MEDS…EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT…OUR SEROTONIN LEVELS ARE ALL DIFFERENT ALSO AND THAT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE…IF YOU HAVE NO SEROTONIN IN YOUR BRAIN , YES YOU WILL HAVE TO TAKE MORE LEXAPRO 20 MG A DAY INSTEAD OF 10MG…I DO TAKE 20 MG ADAY…WORKS WELL WITH ANXIETY SYSTEMS AS WELL…DO NOT BE AFRAID OF TRYING AT LEAST 4 TO 6 WEEKS TO GET THE FULL EFFECT, BUT WITH ME IT WAS AROUND 2 WEEKS WHICH IS NORMAL FOR ALOT OF PEOPLE…BUT AFTER MAYBE 4 WEEKS, SAY YOUR SYSTOMS GET WORSE YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR DOCTOR FOR A ADJUSTMENT…AND DONT WAIT, ITS USELESS TO WAIT, IT ONLY MAKES IT WORSE FOR YOU…I KNOW, IVE DONE IT…AND PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT SEE A FAMILY DOCTOR…THEY ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS IN THE BRAIN AREA…FAMILY DOCTORS ONLY DABBLE IN PHYS PATIENTS AND CAN MAKE THEM WORSE…FROM EXPERIENCE…SEE A PHYS DOC…THEY ARE EXCELLENT IN BRAIN FUNCTION AND THEY REALLY LISTEN TO WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCEING…AND THERAPY WORKS WONDERS…
GOD BLESS
WRITE TO ME IF YOU NEED ANYMORE INFO…

I have been taking lexapro for a couple of years now and don’t know what I’d do without it. I use it for stress which helps keep my pancreas from getting in a bad mood. I have never had any leg pains or side affects. I don’t have a problem driving or anything while taking it unless I’m extremely tired. If I’m that tired I don’t get anxious so I don’t take it. Like was mentioned in other posts, everyone is different and has different reactions. I would monitor myself but try it. If worried or have problems, stop taking it. Best of luck to you and a hug too.

See www.theroadback.org on Lexapro. Check out www.drugs.com & http://crazymeds.us & http://www.askapatient.com and re-post this in Mental Health, at Yahoo! Answers (WHEN IT IS UP AND GOING AGAIN!!! - that’s why I’m here now: generally, I prefer the feedback I get there, which this website, and WRONGDIAGNOSIS.COM lack).

LEXAPRO DID NOT WORK FOR ME BUT NEITHER HAVE MOST MEDICATIONS AS I HAVE BEEN ON THEM FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS. IM GLAD THAT IT WORKS FOR YOU. DOESNT MATTER IF IT WORKS OR DOESNT WORK FOR ONE PERSON AS LONG AS IT IS EFFECTIVE FOR YOU.
