what is it how did I get it and what do you do to treat it? Is is cancerous? I just went for a biopsy to see if this is what I have
I believe you get it from being too clean. In normal circumstance, there are bacteria and yeast in the area which keep everything normal. Too much soap, too much cleansing, lets the yeast take over and it becomes chronic with itching and irritation. ALSO, washing too much and wearing synthetic underwear, such as the fancy nylons and polyester rather than natural cotton, keeps the area damp - which is heaven for yeast - which likes dark, damp places (hence people getting athlete’s foot, also.

OH, the treatment which I hardly use any more, is Clobetasol Propionate Cream .05%. When I was first treated, I had lidocaine in my cream as well, which numbed the nerve endings involved which made the area soooooo itchy. A dermatologist helped me. A gynechologist did a punch biopsy to make sure I didn’t have cancer, because the involved area tends to become whitish in skin color.

I had a biopsy about two weeks ago and was diagnosed last week. Its good
that you’ve had the biopsy in that you will know for sure one way or the
other. I have just started treatment with a steriod cream but I’m just
beginning to try to navigate myself through.
The web seems to give alot of information but I have all sorts of questions
re lifestyle eg exercise regimes.
I don’t know how anybody gets it - I have put at least some of mine down to
the early onset of menopause, a predisposition to eg psoriasis, and
arthritis.
I’m hoping that the steriod cream works- I’ve been told to apply it every
night for 6 weeks and a couple of times aweek thereafter.
I will try to be proactive with the specialist - this seems to be pretty
important in that I don’t think that I will have the monitoring without
this.
Please try not to worry - there are lots of us out here that are going
through the same thing. It is not your fault and it is not contagious. I’m
taking it one day at a time.
