Work a job or are you on disability?

I haven't been able to work for a very long time, and with this pain being so constant every day despite Vicodin, I can't imagine being able to go back to work.  Even if the Vicodin works once in a while, I am then so affected by the Vicodin, its unsafe for me to be driving.  My family cannot go without my income!  Do you qualify for SSI disability if you have pancreatitis with chronic pain? I don't know what else I can do if I cannot leave the house.

Blessings to all,

Susie-Q

if your dr has you off work ask him about social security disability thats what Im on theres alot off paper work for it I hired a company to  do all the work for me they usually charge a fee but only if you get quailfied check into it it can’t hurt I hope this helped Janet

Thank you I am on Social Security Disability as well. My husband is afraid
that if anyone knows I am on it they will attach a stigma to me for it. I am
afraid that as well and it is sad since we pay into for it for our protection.

Hi Susie,

I applied for Social Security Disability and it is very hard to get. The
main thing is to have good documentation from your dr. because that is what
they look at. If he is documenting that the pancratitis is causing you so
much pain that you can’t work that will help you. It took me 18 mos. to get
onto disability. I was denied at first then I had to appeal their decision. I
had to hire a attorney who specializes in Social Security, I went before a
judge who makes the final decision and she overturned the denial. The main
thing is to have good documentation by your dr. I suggest that you apply and
keep positive because they may give it to you. I hope this helps.

Susie,

I haven’t work since 2004 and applied for SS disability in August 2005. I was denied twice and waiting on a court date. Which is the typical process these days.

Here’s a website that will definitely be informative for you and will give you all the information you need to apply for SSDI.

You can also apply online and be sure to include your pancreatitis and chronic pain as your main reason for applying. Read the above site and ask questions there. Here’s the link to apply for SSDI online. Be sure to include your work history, there’s a place for that, too. After you apply, your local SSA field office with most likely call you to come in for an interview. It’s not a big deal, but you need to tell them about any and all mental or physical problems you have.

Good luck & welcome to ask me anything you like if you need to. I’ll be out of town for a couple of days, but I will get back to you as soon as possible. Hugs, Tonya
