do Dandy Walker children have worsening symptoms as they age?

I can only give you our story and experience. My daughter was diagnosed =
in utero with Dandy Walker Malformation and hydrocephalus. The doctor =
told me they recommended termination for these types of pregnancies and =
that to expect her to have no quality of life as she had the true =
malformation. They expected the worst possible scenario. Lexie was =
born very premie and does have shunts placed. Because she was born so =
premie - not due to DW - but do to me being pre-eclamptic - she had =
severe reflux. =20
What I can tell you is that I have a very vivacious, normal 7 year old =
(turning 7 tomorrow). Her symptoms - reflux - have greatly improved. =
As long as her shunts are working you have no idea that anything was =
ever different. She does math a grade a head and is learning to read. =
She rides her bike, plays sports and is very spunky. I’m not saying =
the road has been easy, but she is definitely a huge blessing in our =
