I am wondering how your appointment went in MN?? I am on my way next Monday so very curious.
Hi. I got home last night. I met with Dr. Freeman on Monday after having an MRI. At that time, he said it looks like auto immune pancreatitis or idopathic. Not divisum. We looked at the MRI and the duct is obliviated. He asked me to come back on Tuesday for an EUS with Dr. Mallery. (I had one of those already at a local clinic but they wanted their own people to do it). So we did that at noon yesterday. Dr. Mallery identified a mass on my pancreas and there are also two spots on my liver. He biopsied both. They could only tell me that it was very concerning, without getting the biopsy results back… So now it could still be auto immune, tumor that is not cancer or it could be cancer. Dr. Freeman stopped by he seemed suprised and very concerned as well. He said they will assemble the team and want me back on Monday. I will be meeting I think with Freeman, Mallery and an Oncologist at the Masonic Clinic at the U of M.
I am scared to death. Waiting and not knowing for sure is torture. I stayed home today with my daughter. Trying to let it all sink in. I was prescribed some different pain and sleep medicine so am going to go to the pharmacy this afternoon. Then take my daughter to the park and try to have some fun.
I hope your appt. on Monday goes well.
Janelle,
My prayers are with you. Let’s just assume it is not cancerous. I am sure it will be okay! I am nervous for my appointment too because sometimes not knowing is easier. Let me know when you get your results back. Take care my dear.
The doctor who referred me to Dr. Freeman had very high opinions of Dr.
Mallery too, so I am sure they are going to do the best they can for you! I
was blown away by how caring Dr. Freeman was to my mother and I, so for a
situation like this that is so scary for someone to go through, I think you
are in the right place. Did you read the “Dream Team” article about the team
that they assemble? They are truly amazing and are motivated by wanting to
make lives better. If you send me your email - I can send you the article as
an attachment.
I am so glad that you did get some answers and the doctors are anxious to do
what they can to help you. I hope it is a beautiful day for the park, a
little chilly in Nebraska.
Amanda
Janelle,
A few questions if you have time. What tests had you gotten prior to going to Minnesota? Had you been through an ERCP before or a CAT Scan? How did the mass get missed? Just curious how something like that could’ve been ignored.
Take Care!
Janelle,
I’ll be praying for you this week.

Prayers to you Janelle. I am sure you are scared(I would be too). Try to stay positive, I know it is so hard. Do you live near Dr. Freeman and U of M?? I hope you didn’t have to travel too much after those tests. I do hope you enjoyed the park with your daughter.
Keri
The feelings are mutual. Love to you! Jackie

Hi everyone. I first want to thank all of you for your very kind words of support and prayers. I haven’t been back on to give an update because I just couldn’t until now.
Dr. Mallery called me on Wed. night and told me the biopsy found cancer in my pancreas and liver. He feels it is advanced and gave a poor prognosis regarding to treatment options and timelines. I am just devastated. However, everyone has been just wonderful and very supportive.
Me and my husband, my parents and sister are going back to the U to see Dr. Greeno and Oncologist in the morning. I am also pursuing a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. I am hoping they will see me right away.
I will post as things go alone. Janelle

Janelle -
Stay strong but I am so grateful to hear that you have an group of family to go with you today. I think I remember you mentioning your mom is the one who got an earlier appointment for you with Dr. Freeman - so let her make the call to the Mayo to get a follow up appointment. I will pray that you get immediate attention!

I am Danielle. Janelle is the one who got the bad news. I am not sure what her email address is.
Hello again. My head is spinning. I am exhausted. I got up this morning thinking we had a plan. Yesterday I saw Dr. Greeno, the Oncologist at the U of M. He wanted to start treatment right away. We discussed everything as a family and decided to wait for a second opinion at the Mayo Clinic. I tried to call the Nurse at the Mayo to consult but she was not available. I spoke with the Mayo nurse today. She said the doctor’s between facilities have spoken and she stated she felt I should seek treatment as soon as possible. So I have made arrangements to have treatments at the University of MN. I start on Friday. This whole thing feels like a lifetime movie. Thank you so much for all of your support. I realize this is a forum for pancreatitis so I am not sure if now that I know it’s cancer if I should continue to post. Since my topic has changed.
Before I end this entry I want to say a few things that I appreciate today: The sun was shining brightly this morning and it was beautiful. I feel very loved by my friends and family. I am young and healthy and I can fight the cancer. I have faith in god to guide me to make the right decisions. God bless you this day! Love Janelle
Janelle, you do not have to or need to leave this forum, you started with cp and became one of us, we love you and embrace you and if you feel comfortable here then this is where you belong, it is your call, but we all need each other, and we will continue listening and try to understand and support you, you are a beautiful person and we love you for the person you are not be cause of your cp or cancer. you are such an inspiration, the way you saw today and the beauty you found in it, stay strong and solid as a rock in your faith !
much love and prayers
julie
